I bought this headset for use with the Panasonic KX-TG6021M 5.8 GHz Expandable Digital Cordless Phone and I couldn't be happier. I do have to use the phone at the highest volume level but that's just about right anyway.
The mic gain is fantastic! No one has complained about not being able to hear me and everyone says it sounds like I'm "on a regular phone". The boom only pivots vertically, not horizontally so you can't put it closer to your mouth. However you don't need to and besides, from my experience, ones that do pivot horizontally wear out the thin wires inside very quickly.
I read reviews very carefully before selecting a headset because most low-cost ones are junk. That is not so with this one. I spent 7 years working in a call center with expensive GN Netcom headset units. I'd say this one isn't far behind in overall quality.
I spend a lot of time on the internet with my friends while talking to them on the phone. I've worn the unit for 2-3 hour gaming sessions and it has yet to give me a headache. This, and I have a huge melon, XL hat size. It does tend to warm up but that's because they used the "upholstered" type ear pad like old-fashioned headphones have, not a cheap foam one, so it insulates your ear a little.
I couldn't be happier with this unit. The performance for the price is quite high, at least with my phone.
