This appears to be a well-made phone a step above most of the shoddy products in the marketplace today. The cost of equipment doesn't seem to have much bearing on the quality but in this case neither is sacrificed, the price is certainly within reason compared to others and the soundness and overall useability are of course positive and desirable features.
Several of the previous reviews mention the rather complicated menus and the need for keeping the manual close at hand in order to be able to use and program the features of this phone and i agree it does contain a few features that are rather tedious, such as when deleting calls from the caller id section, rather than one convenient delete key you have to push 3 separate function keys but if you wait until the end of reviewing all the cid's there is a choice to delete all at once instead of individually. I guess I should say that I had a previous phone that used the same sort of programming functions as this one and once you become familiar with the different keys it is more or less intuitive how they are used so I'm not as tied to the instruction manuals are some others have indicated.
It has good features, of course the corded and noncorded provide function during power outages plus the portability and convenience of cordless. The range seems acceptable although since its winter I haven't had a chance to test them outside. It has extra features such as call blocker and is easy to set up for blocking calls. it also has more than one ring tone so you can set one ringtone for friends and family leaving the other ringtone for business and new/unknown callers, something which is handy if you are in the middle of something you don't have to run for the phone to see if it is someone familiar, you will have a good indication by the ring if its friend or foe. The transfer of the numbers from base to handset and handset to base means you don't have to individually program each extension and is not hard to do. It has the capability to store 100 phone numbers which is much larger than most sets which seem to stop at 50 or so.
With the physical attributes appearing quite sturdy and the functions being the usual plus a few extras, I am very pleased with this phone. The last phone i bought left a lot to be desired and from the outset never seemed to perform that well and didn't last that long so I have high hopes for this investment. Overall, I like Panasonic products and this is one of them.
I wouldn't let the method of setting up/programming your phone deter you as its fairly intuitive as I mentioned so I would certainly recommend this phone to anyone looking for a lot of features and a good value as well.
