I've had this phone for a couple of years, and it's been the only phone in the house that has features such as phone company voice mail notification, etc. (My other phone has been a two-handset older Panasonic system, the KX-TG5011M.) I really like this phone. After I got phone company voice mail a couple of years ago, I didn't need an answering machine so it was nice to find a good basic phone with all the features this one has. I like the size, the voice quality, the display, and don't even mind how it sticks out from the kitchen wall when wall-mounted, which it was. I do wish it had a belt clip option, that's the only shortcoming I noticed.
Recently I switched to Comcast phone service and am having problems with the phone wiring in this older condo. Instead of wasting hours and dollars on the wiring issue, I can plug a phone directly into the Comcast phone/internet modem and have problem-free phone service (as opposed to plugging the modem into the house phone wiring which *should* carry the signal to the various phone jacks - but doesn't).
This phone works beautifully that way - but I want/need additional handsets for it. I found handsets for sale, but they are not inexpensive. In the meantime, I found a complete new 4-handset Panasonic cordless phone system at a local big box store on sale for a price about the same, or less, than a single new handset for this phone. So I bought the new set and am retiring this phone. Reluctantly. I actually prefer its display to the bigger brighter but more primitive-looking display on the handsets of the Panasonic KX TG6434PK - Cordless phone w/ call waiting caller ID & answering system - DECT 6.0 - black + 3 additional handset(s), which is my new system. It is kind of counter-intuitive to this older person, that it would be much less expensive to buy an entire brand new phone system (with answering machine, which I don't even need and won't turn on), than to buy even two new handsets for a phone that's maybe two years old, if that. But that's the speed of the electronics industry these days, things come and go fast and buying separate components can often be costlier than entire new systems.
However, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this phone to anyone. I wouldn't have minded keeping it myself, but the extra handset situation just didn't work out.
