Customer Review: cool little phone

Picked up another handset because only one comes with the phone. The handset had no trouble registering to the base unit - piece of cake. The phone itself is pretty cool - my iphone syncs up as soon as I walk in the door. Now I don't need to carry my iphone around the house with me. We are replacing a much older panasonic expandable phone system (10+ yrs) so I've been pretty happy with Panasonic's quality. I do wish the menu system on this phone was as intuitive as our older model but I guess with more features come a more complex menu. Also wish the four buttons at the top (including the most important "talk" button) were a bit larger. I also think the smaller handset size, while more compact makes it a bit more awkward at times because the phone will not stand up on it's own very well without the base - too easy to get knocked over onto floor,etc and risk breaking (this ended up being the downfall of our older model - too many drops onto floor but it still lasted 10 years so no complaint there). So I've just had to get used to laying it down on it's size so it doesn't get knocked over if not it it's cradle (which happens more often than not) - we only have 3 handset in our 2000 sq foot home so the handets are fequently left off the charging cradle. I miss not having a display on the base unit with the answering machine but I huess it's OK as long as the handset is there. Not sure about coverage yet as I heven't ventured outside with the phone yet, but our older panasonic had excellent coverage and that one was just a 2.4 Gig.Other than those minor complaints, the phone does what is claims. We haven't tried to sync my husband's cell phone yet but I don't anticipate it being a problem. The talking caller ID is a neat feature even though most of the pronounciation is way off - it has trouble with uncommon names, etc. Still helps in screening calls when you can hear who's calling from another room without having to get up... we've learned to decode it's unusual pronounciation when certain telemarketers call and it's saved us a few times from unwanted calls. It's supposed to have a feature that you can even block calls from specific numbers like telemarketers but I haven't figured that one out yet. Great phone - I've already recommended it to a few friends looking to upgrade their older phones - bluetooth is worth every penny! You can essentially eliminate the need for a land line with this phone, but I don't think I'm quite ready for that yet...
