I recently bought a Panasonic DMR-ES10K DVD recorder, and, in addition to some DVD-RAM disks, I bought these Panasonic DVD-R disks for material I wanted to keep permanently (all purchased from Amazon, by the way).
The brief product description Amazon provides doesn't mention it, but the last two digits in the Panasonic item number ("20") refer to the number of disks in the box. You also get a jewel box for each DVD (the slim type with not enough room to write anything on the edge, but with plenty of space on the fold-out cover to write as much of a description as you might need).
These DVDs recorded and played back perfectly on my Panasonic recorder, and, after they were finalized, they also played back perfectly on the Toshiba DVD player that I bought five years ago.
At $20 for 20 DVDs with jewel boxes, these are a great deal. If you have a DVD recorder, I highly recommend these DVD-R disks from Panasonic.
