Like all Panasonic shavers that I have owned before, this has the Linear High Speed motor for comfortable and fast shaving. One can shave dry or wet and in the shower if you want, and also use a little shaving foam on your face. They recommend not using shave gel since it is thick and can slow down the shaver speed. This, like my other ones, can be washed under running water with a touch of soap on the head first. This one comes also with a holder that allows the shaver to be cleaned and dried by immersion into the cleaning unit and has a soap cartridge. My opinion is to skip this, and wash it by smearing some liquid handsoap on the head and rinsing it under running water, then let dry. Then you don't have to buy any refills for the soap cartridge.
I have owned Norelco, Remington and Braun shavers over the years and I truly believe that the Panasonic is the best and longest lasting. I would buy a Panasonic if this ever wears out.
